He was predeceased by: his mother Barbara McRee Kerner. He is survived by: his father Col. Robert Carl Kerner; his siblings, Rebecca Ervasti of Lindstrom, MN, Eric Kerner, Robert Kerner, Jr. and William Kerner; and his siblings' children, Will Kerner, Michael Thaisen, Ben Kerner and Laura Thaisen Rice.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the donor's charity of choice.
