He was predeceased by: his mother June Love Smith Summerall. He is survived by: his father Henry Summerall, Jr.; his stepmother Martha McCormick Summmerall; his sister Anne Margaret Summerall Poplin; his brother-in-law David Poplin; his sibling's children, Grace Poplin Altman (Raylyn Altman) and Henry David McDougald "Mac" Poplin; his aunt Jeannie Smith Mitchell; his cousins, Kenneth Mitchell and Michelle MItchell Hitt; his aunt Linda Smith Holt; and his cousins, Taylor Holt Wlodarcak, Courtney Holt Ezerzer, Wayne Summerall and Al-Anon.
