He is survived by: his wife Janet Wilson Hanger; his parents, Bill Hanger and Beth Hanger; his children, Clara Hanger, Lauren Hanger and Michael Hanger, Jr.; and his siblings, Rebecca Smylie, Hannah Kennedy (David), William Hanger (Laura) and Joshua Hanger. He is also survived by in-laws, many cousins, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cliffwood Presbyterian Church, Augusta, GA.
