He was predeceased by: his wife Mattie Paul; his son Roger Cook, Jr.; his parents, Charles Cook and Evelyn Cook; and his brother Charles Jay Cook.
He is survived by: his son James Paul III; his grandchildren, James Paul, Tyler Paul and Taylor Paul; his great grandchildren, Jaelyn Paul and Harmony Paul; and his sister-in-law Trish Hardin.
