He was predeceased by : his parents, Gerard Verkaik and Sophia Lengwin Verkaik; and his siblings, Sophia Flood, Peter and Frank.

He is survived by : his wife Willy Verkaik; his children, James (Teri), Tim (Aileen), Lisa Paolino (Joseph) and Nancy Saucier (Jim); and his brother Bill. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, along with great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
