She was predeceased by : her parents, Frank Duke and Hazel Corley Duke; her husband George Irvin Matthews; her sons, Franklin D. Matthews and George Irvin Matthews, Jr.; and her siblings, Freeman Duke, Agnes Chapman, Grace Tardiff and Nell Shirey.
She is survived by : her son James Arthur Matthews of Saluda; her brother James Duke of Batesburg; her daughter-in-law Kathryn Brewer of Johnston; and her granddaughters, Angie Smith of Johnston, Sandra Jumper of Leesville and Kathryn Lynn Brewer of Anderson.
