It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joshua Matthews of Bowman, South Carolina, who passed away on July 5, 2021, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by : his siblings, Rev. John Wesley and Victoria Williams Matthews. He is survived by : his wife Katherine Annette Crum of Rowesville; his children, Paquita Lynne Wood (Victor) of Mableton, GA, Jossena Bonita Matthews of Orangeburg, SC, Joshua Samuel Matthews (Andrea) of Bowman, SC, Kay Antoinette Matthews of Nashville, TN and Tiffany Vashuna Matthews-Carter of Mableton, GA.; his grandchildren, Alexandria Victoria Matthews of Greer, SC, Dorian Sherard Wood (Antoinette), Darius Gerard Wood, J. D. of Atlanta, GA, Joshua Samuel Matthews, II of Orangeburg, SC, Victor Leon Wood, II of Mableton, GA and Erin Tiara Carter of Mableton, GA.; his great grandchildren, Raegan E. Wood, Cairo G. Wood and Cayden M. Wood; his grandchildren, Jocelyn Latrese Ellis of Savannah, GA. and Jarvis Langston Ellis of Savannah, GA.; his siblings, Bessie Moss of Orangeburg, SC., Roosevelt Matthews (Alma) of Bowman, SC, Booker T. Matthews of Jamaica, NY and Senator John W. Matthews (Mary) of Bowman, SC.; his brother-in-law Joseph Jackson of Rowesville, SC; his adoptive son Barry Smithzer, Jr. of Orangeburg, SC; and also Sandra Mack. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
