He was predeceased by: his father Edward Layman; and his daughter Christeene Auker. He is survived by: his wife Linda Brown Layman; his children, Susan Hubbard and Richard "Sam" Layman Jr.; and his brothers, Skip Cerruti and David Hill. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Southside Baptist Church or Theil Meyer Pet Adoption Center.
