He is survived by: his wife Beverly Griffin Mims; his children, Ernie Mims, Jr. of Rock Hill, SC, Johnny "Bubba" of Chester, SC, Joshua of Chester, SC, Brandon of Chester, SC and Carley Mims of Chester, SC; his mother-in-law Joyce L. Hunter of Chester, SC; and his grandchildren, Felisha M. Woodman (James) of Rock Hill, SC and Tyler Mims (Gabriella Loflin) of Norfolk, VA. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
