He is survived by: his parent Lula June Broome Helms; his children, Barbara Ward (Dean) of Rock Hill, Cindy Hough (Brian) of York, Lisa Spencer (Johnny) of Rock Hill, Luke W. Helms Jr. (Ruth) of Boone, NC and Tessie Edmondson (John) of Richburg; his brother Tim "Doc" Helms of Chester; and his brother-in-law Ronnie E. Nichols. He is also survived by two daughters that he considered his grandchildren.
