She was predeceased by: her husband James H. Hicks, Jr.; her parents, Amos Roper and Annie Baynes Roper; her daughter Shirley McGarity; and her grandson Chris McGarity.
She is survived by: her children, Larry James Hicks and Alice Hicks-Ray (Leslie Ray); and her grandchildren, Kali Solomon (Jeremy), Kala Burrell (Cole), Ashley Reynolds (Michael) and Kelsey Davis. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
