He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard McCarter and Irene McCarter; his brothers, Charles and Perry McCarter; and his son James Russell McCarter.
He is survived by: his wife Dorothy McCarter; his children, Donna Bolin (Bobby) and Brad McCarter (Debbie); his grandchildren, Erica Fielder (Daniel), Andy Bolin, Kyle McCarter (Kayla) and Cameron McCarter; his great grandchildren, Jackson Fielder, Hazel Fielder and Tallulah McCarter; and his grandson Benjamin Chestnut.
