He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John McDowell and Betty McDowell; his wife Debbie; his children, Megan (Mac Winget), Abby (Thomas Chidester) and John McDowell (Julie); his grandchildren, Mary, Ella, Wyatt, Thomas, Jaycee and John Paul; and his brother Robby (Robin McDowell).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel Presbyterian Church. 1 Corinthians 2:9 But, as it is written, "What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him.".
