He was predeceased by: his parents, William H Rainey and Ollie Hancock Rainey; his wife Mary Paysour Rainey; and his siblings, William H Rainey, Jr., Clayton Rainey, Maggie Reid and Beatrice Stallings.
He is survived by: his son Michael E. Rainey of Clover, SC; and his grandchildren, Christopher Rainey of Clover, SC, Matthew Rainey of Spartanburg, SC and Heather Gallagher (Philip) of Greenville, SC. He is also survived by his six great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Rainey's name to the National Federation of the Blind, 200 East Wells Street Jernigan Place, Baltimore, MD 21230.
