She was predeceased by: her parents, Willie Joseph Branton and Fleetwood Vereen Branton; her sons, Alvin Gene Hughes and Joseph "Joe" Howard Hughes; her siblings, Donald Branton and Evelyn Harris; and her daughter-in-law Rita Hughes.
She is survived by: her husband Howard Hughes; her son Dexter Hughes (Trish); her daughter-in-law Reina Hughes; and her sisters, Ethel Alford, Carolyn Ballington and Thelma Lewis. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and many other family and friends.
