He was predeceased by: his wife Charlotte Bishop; his parents, Rufus Bishop and May Bishop; his sons, Dale Cornelius Bishop and John Earl Bishop; and his brothers, Edgar Bishop and George Bishop.

He is survived by: his children, Roy Cecil Bishop, Jr. (Cynthia) of Cowpens, Roy Douglas Bishop of Inman and Charlotte Ann Mayfield of Mayo; his grandchildren, James Mayfield, Brandon Crocker, Taylor Peterson, Brianna Bishop, Kerstin Bishop and Trevor Isaiah Bishop; and his siblings, Herman Bishop and Gladys Bishop.
