He was predeceased by : his parents, Hamp Southerlin and Ollie Ward Southerlin; his son Ricky Southerlin; and his brothers, T. J. Southerlin and Donno Redding.

He is survived by : his wife Rilda Presnell Southerlin; and his children, Bobby Southerlin (Dawn), Kenneth Southerlin, Linda Kilpatrick (Butch), Elaine Dorsey (Tom) and Kathy Southerlin. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 1 great great-grandchild.
