He was predeceased by : his parents, Beulah Watkins (Rourke) and Wroten Watkins; his wife Julia Lee Beatty Watkins; his sister Cherrie Watkins Smith; his niece Bonnie Risher; and his nephew Ray W. Smith.

He is survived by : his sons, William Watkins (Gayle) and Matthew Watkins; and his grandchildren, Ben Watkins, Brian Watkins and Emily Walters (Patrick).
