It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Alva Ray (Florence, South Carolina), born in Sumter, South Carolina, who passed away on April 30, 2020, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie E. Ray and Carrie Buckner Ray; his granddaughter Brandi Ray; and his siblings, William, Lewis, Freddie, Elmer, Thomas, Floyd Ray, Eva Stewart, Virginia Ubele, Connie Chrapek, Helen Hood and Lillian Yarbrough.
He is survived by: his children, Beverly R. Kelly, Ashley of Florence and Michael Ray of Florence; his grandchildren, Jessica Burgess, Sydney Hardwick and Lucas Hatchell; and his niece Carol Powers. He is also survived by many other nieces, nephews and many friends.
Due to Covid-19, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
