He was predeceased by: his parents, Yale Julian Garber and Mattie Coggins Garber. He is survived by: his brother David Reed Garber of Aiken, SC; his niece Julie Garber McLain; and his child Mattie Taylor McLain (Murray Reed McLain).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. John's Church, 252 South Dargan Street, Florence, SC 29501 or to the charity of one's choice.
