He is survived by: his spouse Willie Mary Heaton Owens; his grandson Max; his children, Doug Owens, Jr. (Katie Smith), Maxwell Owens and Cyndi Christen; his sisters, Georgia Smith, Mary Ann Schultz and Margie "Jewel" Freeman; and his sister-in-law Susie Pitts.
