She was predeceased by: her husband Rev. John Charles Smith Sr.; her parents, Arnold Andrew Stargel and Jessie Mae Brewer Stargel; and her siblings, Jerry "Bud" Stargel and Nancy Stargel.

She is survived by: her children, Rev. John Smith Jr. (Jeanie), Rhonda Dill (Gervase) and Rene McElhannon; and her sisters, Brenda Garrison (Richard) and Jane Conenour (Don). She is also survived by seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
