She was predeceased by: her spouse Evans J. Norton; her parents, William S. Byars and Vernie McSwain Byars; and her sisters, Patsy Blanton and Sylvia Lee Byars.
She is survived by: her daughters, Lana Kay Erwin (Larry) of Shelby and Janice Peeler (Eddie) of Mooresboro; her stepdaughters, Shelia Grooms Norton of St. Paul, NC and Gina Grifis of Fayetteville; her siblings, James L. "Buddy" Byars (Grace) of Mooresboro, Shell J. Byars (Renee) of Grover and Margie McGuire (Steve) of Mooresboro; her grandchildren, Monica Anthony (Allen) and Matthew Peeler; her stepgrandchildren, Tony Grifis and Carey Odom; her great grandchildren, Katie Anthony, Christen Anthony, Jessi Peeler and Aleah Peeler; and her close friends, Patsy Willis and Ann Snyder.
