He was predeceased by: his wife Nellie Phillips Teaster; his parents, Otis Teaster and Nettie Reynolds Teaster; and his siblings, Evelyn Crawford, Carl Teaster, Lloyd Teaster, Lawrence Teaster, Clyde Teaster and Glenn Teaster.
He is survived by: his son Gene Phillips (Peggy) of Pacolet; his brothers, Paul Teaster of Pacolet and Howard Teaster of Gaffney; his grandchildren, Ron Parris (Joy), Suzanne Bridges (Chris) and Kim Easler; and his great grandchildren, Brandon Blackwood, Payton Bridges, Hunter Parris, Shyann Parris and Anna Grace Easler.
