It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ellon Bridges (Gaffney, South Carolina), born in Saluda, North Carolina, who passed away on July 14, 2020, at the age of 75, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parent Claude McKinley McDowell; her children, Curtis Ray Stanford and Rhonda Denise Stanford; her grandchild Cavan; her great grandchild Roman; and her siblings, Claude McDowell, Jr., Eugene McDowell, Raymond McDowell, Donald Lee McDowell, Eula Bowen and Dorothy McDowell.
She is survived by: her daughters, Lisa Bridges Smith (Cam) of Boiling Springs, SC, Kimberly Ellon Stanford of Spartanburg and Donna Stanford Strong (Kenneth) of Gaffney; her sister Barbara McDowell Blackmon of Charlotte, NC; her grandchildren, Danielle Emory (Shawn), Christina Scruggs, Dustin Scruggs (Cassie), Hannah Strong Countryman (Michael), Tyler Ruppe, Caleb Stanford, Emily Smith and Skyler Smith; and her great grandchildren, Nolan, Aubrey and Autumn. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
