He was predeceased by: his wife Helen Byars Hampton; his parents, Charlie Marshall Hampton and Virgie Metcalf Hampton; his son Joe Mac Hampton, Jr.; and his siblings, Margie Hampton Grant and Charles Winfred Hampton.
He is survived by: his son Ted Hampton of Gaffney; his daughter-in-law Janet Hampton of Gaffney; his grandchildren, Heather Hampton Swayngim (Joe) of Gaffney, Charles Caleb Hampton of Gaffney and Joshua Daniel Hampton (Krystal) of Inman; and his great grandchildren, Joseph MacKenzie Swayngim, Sara Marie Swayngim, Isaiah Daniel Hampton and Abigail Grace Hampton.
Due to COVID-19, the family will be gathering privately.
