She was predeceased by: her parents, James Carson Stroupe and Sarah Louise Bonner Stroupe; and her husband Jim Pate. She is survived by: her stepchildren, Jeanne Gordon (James) of Hendersonville, NC and Bill Pate (Donna) of Mobile, AL; her daughter Jackie Shanklin (Ken) of Wilmington, NC.; and her siblings, James C. Stroupe of Charlotte, NC and Phoebe Stroupe Lee of Conway, SC.. She is also survived by five step grandchildren and four step great grandchildren.
