She is survived by: her parents, Ivan Reece Kistler and Pilar Alvarado Kistler; her children, Simon Shockley, Harrison Shockley and Lydia Acheson; and her sisters, Karen Kistler Bonderer (Lawrence) and Karla Kistler Johnson (Al).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to National Alliance for Mental Illness.
