It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Francis Marion Sturkie of Gaston, South Carolina, who passed away on September 28, 2021, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Bennie R. Sturkie and Mary Mae Howell Sturkie; his wife Margaret Ann Sturkie; and his brother Hugo Sturkie. He is survived by: his daughters, Mary Lou Starnes (Wayne), Peggy McAdams and Tammy Mann (Adrian); his stepson Skip Smith; his grandchildren, Michael Starnes, Amber Starnes, Kimberly Poehler (John), Melissa Moore, Rebecca Wofford, Jessica Brown (John), Heather Rozelman (Doug), Stacey Pierce (Mark) and Chris Crocker (Kit); and his sisters, Lucy Mae Gantt and Bertha Mae Hutto. He is also survived by numerous great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made to the American Heart Association.
