He was predeceased by: his parents, James Otis Bowling and Rosalie Marie Dobbins Bowling; and his grandparents, Stella Dobbins, Minter Dobbins, Beagle and Toby.

He is survived by: his children, Kris Bowling (Christy) of Gaston and Lindsay Hinson (David) of Bonneau, SC; his grandchildren, Hunter Brooks, Grayson Hinson and Jordan Bowling; his sister Debbie Lawrence of Roanoke, VA; his nephew Jason Lane; and his great-nieces, Kyra Lane, Bella Lane and Brooklyn Lane.
