He was predeceased by: his parents, Margie Sharpe Smith of Gaston and Leonard Carrol Smith; his siblings, Alice Faye Smith and Steve O'Neal Smith of Gaston; and his grandson Zachary Owen Castles, Jr..
He is survived by: his daughter Laura Ann Smith Castles (Zachary); his grandchildren, Nevaeh Faith Castles, Trinity Hope Castles and Jayden Lawrence Thompson; and his brothers, Leonard Carrol Smith Jr. of Gaston, Charles Stanley Smith of Gaston, Billy Edward Smith (Cheryl) of Gaston and Harvey O'Neal Smith of Gaston.
