He was predeceased by: his mother Alice Long Smith. He is survived by: his wife Mary; his son Charles; his granddaughters, Ava Joy Fradette and Rylee Bryn Fradette of Grand Rapids, MI.; and his siblings, Woodrow W. Smith of Ft Pierce, FL and Laura Mae Martin of Hartsville, SC. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
