He was predeceased by: his parents, Manning Hartley and Katie Ellen Harrell Hartley; his son James V. "Junior" Hartley, Jr.; his siblings, Vernelle Ackerman, Manning Hartley, Jr. and Grace H. Miller; and his pets, Prissy and Sissy.
He is survived by: his daughters, Candace Jordan-Hartley, Erica H. Lambert (Randy) and Nella Suzanne Miller; his stepchildren, Heather J. LeDay (Bryant), Brandon S Jordan and Chris Ray; his grandchildren, Caitlyn N. Ray, Bailey D. Fountain and Dalton LeDay; and his sister Betty Sue Poston (Tommy).
