He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Clarence Mitchell and Mary Gaither Mitchell; and his children, Dorothy Robinson (Gary) of Cleveland, OH, Annette Owens of Greenville, SC, Lashaun Scott (Charles) of Pelzer, SC, Charlene McDowell of Greenville, SC, Felicia Sartor (Rodney) of Greenville, SC and Joseph Gray (Amanda) of Greenville, SC. He was also cherished by eighteen grandchildren, twenty eight great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 20th 2024 at 3:00 PM at the Watkins, Garrett & Woods Mortuary (1011 Augusta St, Greenville, SC 29605). A burial was held on Saturday, April 20th 2024 at the Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church (250 N Flat Rock Rd, Piedmont, SC 29673).
