It is with great sadness that we announce the death of George Emmitt Carter Jr. of Greenville, South Carolina, born in Fayetteville, North Carolina, who passed away on November 25, 2023, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, George Carter, Sr. and Harriett McKnight Carter; and his former wife Martha Heckerman Carter. He is survived by: his spouse Jean Carter; his children, George Emmitt Carter, III and Melanie Carter Spatig; his grandchildren, Zander Carter, Grace Spatig and Kahlan Spatig; his stepson Gary F. "Chip" Forte; and his close friend Tom McInnis.
