He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Settles and Emily Settles; his siblings, Oscar Settles and Emma Lee Williams; his spouse Shirley Smith; his daughters, Kathi Settles and Alfreda Duncan (James) of Greenwood, SC; his goddaughters, Kimberly Martin of Greenwood, SC and Greta Love (Rick) of Liberty Township, OH; his grandchildren, Desariee Duncan, DiAndra Duncan and Rhenatta Sherriffe Lake; and his great grandchildren, Zaiden Springs, Khalil Lake and Dr. Jabbarrius Ervin, MD of Washington, DC..
He is survived by: his sisters, Carol Hayes (Eugene) of Morristown, NJ and Bertha Taylor of Newark, NJ.
