She was predeceased by: her parents, Edward Foster and Willie Mae Parks Foster; her former husband Phillip Gilchrist; her sons, Sherman Gilchrist and Donald Gilchrist; her sisters, Marion Tolbert, Bessie Johnson, Alberta Hurley and Gladys Aiken; and her husband James E. Settles.
She is survived by: her children, Patrice L. Gilchrist of Greenwood, SC and Richard Gilchrist of Greenwood, SC; her brother Edward Foster, Jr. (Mary) of Greenwood, SC; her grandchildren, Ian Gilchrist and Adrianna Gilchrist of Greenwood, SC; and her great grandchildren, Taraji Gilchrist, Elani Gilchrist and Jaylis Durant. She is also survived by brother-in-law; a sister-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Viewing will be held on Thursday, July 24th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Percival - Tompkins Chapel (330 Magnolia Ave, Greenwood, SC 29646). The lying in state will be held on Friday, July 25th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Springfield Baptist Church (2361 Hwy 72 W, Greenwood, SC 29649). A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 25th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Friday, July 25th 2025 at the same location.
