He was predeceased by: his parents, Newton Smith and Carrie Skinner Smith; and his stepdaughter Flora Detral Chastain. He is survived by: his wife Glenda Delain Wood Smith of LaFayette, GA; his son Christopher "C. J."; and his siblings, Brenda Slone (Wallace) of Duncan, SC, Jimmy Smith (Kathy) of Greer, SC and Ronnie Smith (Marjorie) of Greer, SC. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask for donations to be made towards the funeral expenses.
