He was predeceased by: his wife Jo Ellen Rouda O'Shields; his parents, B. D. O'Shields and Eula Chastain O'Shields; and his sisters, Betty Davis and Dorothy Freeman.
He is survived by: his children, Dale O'Shields (Terry) of Gaithersburg, MD and Debbie Goodson (Keith) of Greenville, SC; his grandchildren, Christi Rivera (Steve) of Gaithersburg, MD, Jessica McAuliff (Justin) of Gaithersburg, MD and Joshua Goodson of Godwin, NC; and his siblings, Alice Maw, Agnes (Don), Artis O'Shields (Judy) and Wayne O'Shields. He is also survived by seven great grandchildren.
