He was predeceased by: his parents, Hubert M. Swafford Sr. and Mary Shirley Swafford; his son Drew Swafford; and his siblings, Hubert M. Swafford Jr. and Joyce Fleming.

He is survived by: his son Van Swafford (Tina) of Greer; his daughter-in-law Rene Swafford of Greer; his grandchildren, Amanda Swafford (Brandon Tyner), Blake Swafford (Sara Ashleigh) and Brooke Lacell (Richard); and his great grandchildren, Rylynn Davis and R. J. Lacell.
