He was predeceased by: his parents, John Burgess and Margret Burgess; and his brothers, William Burgess, John Burgess, Ernest Burgess, Bobby Burgess and Ellery Burgess.
He is survived by: his wife Rose D. Burgess; his children, Dyann Spearman of Inman, SC, Reta Knoke of Gray Court, SC and Lenville Burgess of Greer, SC; and his siblings, Michael Burgess of Omar, WV, Gary Vannatte of Pelzer, SC and Margie Stollings. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; six great, great grandchildren.
