He was predeceased by: his children, Robert Lyles and Sheryl Alsup; his brother Robert Lyles; and his parents, Allen Lyles and Cora Belle Lyles.
He is survived by: his wife Dorothy J. Lyles; his children, Valerie Thompson, Leslie "Buddy" Lyles and Jonathan Lyles; and his brother Jack Lyles. He is also survived by grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren.
