He was predeceased by: his parents, Silas and Cornelia R. Gist, Sr.; his daughter JoAnn Gist; his siblings, Viola Gist, Azelee Gist, Rosella G. Greer, James Gist and Henry Gist; and his grandsons, James Doby and Douglas L. Scott.
He is survived by: his children, Kathy Sullivan of Lyman, SC and Douglas Scott (Doris) of Wellford, SC; his brother Odis Gist of Greenville, SC; and his son-in-law Rev. Harold Moon, Sr. of Mauldin, SC.
