He was predeceased by : his parents, Capers Amerson and Geneva Hutson Amerson; his wife Dorothy Harris Amerson; his sons, Robert Dale Amerson and Philip LeRoy Amerson; his grandchildren, Philip Amerson (Rocky) and Robbie Amerson; and his brothers, L. C. Amerson, Richard Amerson, Wilbur Amerson, Keith Amerson, Marshall Amerson and Afton Amerson.

He is survived by : his son Tom Amerson (Jackie); his grandchildren, Tony Amerson, Amanda Cole (Ryland), Spencer Amerson (Katlyn) and Misti Lane (Coree); and his great grandchildren, Sydney Amerson, Daylee Amerson, Ayla Cole, Kaylen Cole, Lexi Lane, Stanlee Lane, Weslee Lane and Phillip Amerson.

Visitation was held on Monday, April 15th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Pine Ridge Holiness Church (3526 W Bobo Newsom Hwy, Hartsville, SC 29550). A funeral service was held on Monday, April 15th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Monday, April 15th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Magnolia Cemetery (140 S Cedar Ln, Hartsville, SC 29550).
