He is survived by: his wife Helen James Mathis of Darlington, SC; his children, Gary Allen Mathis (Ginger) of Goldsboro, NC, Roger Eugene Mathis (Brandy) of Gastonia, NC and Lisa Mathis Beavers (Lacy) of Darlington, SC; his siblings, Dennis Mathis of Hartsville, SC and Beverly Ann Byrd (David) of Hartsville, SC; and his grandchildren, Darrel Beavers, Kenneth Beavers, Joshua Beavers, Christopher Mathis, Brittany Volk, Amanda Mendoza, Bryan Mathis, Brandon Mathis and Eben Mathis. He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren.
