He is survived by: his wife Marie Thaxton; his father James Edward Thaxton Sr.; his daughter April Kay Thaxton of Johnsonville; his stepdaughter Kim Mitchell (Nicki) of Pamplico; his sons, James Edward Thaxton, III (Elizabeth) of Hemingway, Chris Thaxton of Lake City and Joseph Powell of Johnsonville; his grandchildren, Lucas Thaxton, Dalten King, Will Mitchell, Jayden Hammond and Rayeen Hammond; and his siblings, Kim Thaxton (Tamie) of Johnsonville, Tony Thaxton of North Carolina, Ted Lee Thaxton of North Carolina, Mary Dennis (Kenny) of Johnsonville, Angela Fowler (Billy) of Hemingway and Crystal Robinson (John) of Summerville. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
