He was predeceased by: his parents, Douglas G. Joy and Geraldine Pope Joy. He is survived by: his wife Donna Cox Joy; his daughters, Macy McGee (Christopher), Madeline Joy (Trey Cribb) and Mackenzie Joy (Nick Marlowe); his siblings, Doug Joy and Mary Ann Huggins (Robin); his siblings-in-law, Debra C. Poole (Lonnie), Karen C. Altman, Sonja C. Nexsen (Steve) and Kenny Cox (Kathy); his parents-in-law, Lonnie Wayne, Margie Cox and Tommy Metzger; and his granddaughters, Evelyn and Hollyn. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
