He is survived by: his children, Melvin L. Cotton Jr. (Wanda) of Belding, Tonya M. Wehr (David) of Honea Path, SC, Tod L. Cotton (Kim) of Charlotte and Matthew E. Cotton of Florida; and his siblings, Elizabeth Wheaton of Lansing and Patricia Burley (Floyd) of Charlotte. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren.
