She was predeceased by : her parents, Mitchell Vernon Drake and Lydia Louise Drake (Watkins); her husband James Daniel Newman; and her siblings, Boyce Lee Drake, Mitchell V. Drake, Jr., George Vernon Drake, Lois D. Nichols and Martha D. Childress.

She is survived by : her children, Michael D. Newman (Judy) of Columbia, James "Jim" Quay Newman (Marie Ann) of Greenville, Carole Coggins (Miller) and Jill N. Callihan (Ron) of Liberty; her grandchildren, Bonnie Blackwell (Jed), Joseph Bell and Jon Bell (Ashley); and her great grandchildren, Ella Bell and Drake Bell.
