She was predeceased by: her parents, Heyward Clinch Varnadoe and Etta Irene Smith Varnadoe. She is survived by: her husband Harry Fletcher Clayton; her daughters, Kimberly Jones and Pamela Savage (Phil); and her siblings, Ralph Varnadoe and Barbara Hubbard. She is also survived by six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
